The first Motorshow@ took place in July 2006 and brought together
more than 20 of the south west’s car dealerships and motor
related companies for four days at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway,
Bristol.
As the inaugural Motorshow@, the show proved the concept a success
when exhibitors at the show sold over £450,000 worth of cars
across the four days and secured thousands of leads to follow up
afterwards!
The show was opened by motoring journalist and broadcaster, Quentin
Willson, who spent the day wandering the exhibits and speaking with
the dealers.
Every dealer really went to town with their displays and made the
show look like a first class motoring experience, with specialist
driving experiences provided by Land Rover, with their off road
experience “Terrapod”, in addition to a combined bespoke
4 x 4 area produced for Jeep, Volkswagen and Toyota! Both were enjoyed
by the visitors and offered the car brands the perfect opportunity
to really show what their vehicles were capable of and use it as
a a key selling tool.
There were lots of firsts for Motorshow@ The Mall, with an exclusive
appearance from Bristol Cars. The manufacturers showcased their
exclusive models in the only Motorshow the company has ever exhibited
its hand built sports car in 60 years!
Both Volkswagen and Audi choose the motorshow for the first viewings
of new models, in the run up to their official launches at the London
motorshow and to gauge the public’s reaction to their newest
models.
Aiming to deliver an event that would appeal to everyone and attract
every type of car buyer, the show incorporated some family elements
and children’s entertainment. Creating a feature car area
including the Batmobile, the General Lee (Dukes of Hazard) and the
Toyland red and yellow car, children’s play area and go karting.
At the end of the first day, the Motorshow@ VIP evening took place
at The Mall. This gave the exhibitors a business-to-business networking
opportunity to invite their key clients and guests to the party.
It was an enjoyable and successful evening for all the dealers,
and was even graced with the appearance of some local celebrities.
